HUCK IT

Don't know who still reads this blog, but whatheheck right. haha.

Exams are still ongoing for most, ending this week probably. There won't be pick up at Monash during the summer holidays probably, but you are welcome to any pick up's around KL!

Kolej Bandar Utama, Saturdays at 9.00am are a wonderful place to start, since there are a lot of seniors, and you can probably sharpen your throws and learn more about the game. Don't be discouraged if you've just started, and think you might not be good enough, because people there are really friendly, and newcomers are always welcome!

If you don't know the way, head towards One Utama, and down the road in between the new wing and the old wing, keep heading straight, passing a sorta masjid on your right, a couple of traffic lights and schools, and Centerpoint on your left. You will reach another traffic light besides McDonald's, take the right turn, and ta-da you're there!

We usually play a good 2 solid hours, play usually only starts at 9.30 / 10 or so.

Other pick ups include ISKL in Ampang on Sundays, contact David Lai for more info, and in Shah Alam, one of the fields in front of the huge masjid on Fridays i believe, not too sure. haha. Contact the UiTM Lions.

Do join the KLDisc Yahoo! Group to obtain latest information on KL Ultimate, including tournaments and post any questions you might wanna ask there!

here's a video showing pick up in University Malaya a couple of years ago,

Still Competing at Ultimate Frisbee’s Birthplace

An interesting articles if you want to know which college started ultimate.

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/16/nyregion/new-jersey/16frisbeenj.html

Here is an interesting quote

FORGET college guides, U.S. News & World Report rankings, average SAT scores. The best gauge of an institution’s ex cellence may actually be … its ultimate Frisbee team. At least that’s the theory of Dr. Michael J. Norden, a Univer sity of Washington professor of psychiatry.

In his new study, Dr. Michael J. Norden explains the correlation between academic excellence and ultimate; Why Smart Guys Play Frisbee

• Students not known for athletic prowess “can show up at college having never played” and be good at it by year’s end.

• The game calls for “spatial aptitude” (“to ‘read’ the projected path of the disc”) and “quick, accurate decision-making” (“a new play must be improvised every 10 seconds”).

• “It is readily compatible with a heavy academic load.”

Okay

so we didn't play in the blistering rain and insane stormy winds last thursday!

It was too insane. Rain isn't that bad, but coupled with wind, it just makes it almost impossible to play!

a 175 gram disc sways veryy easily in the wind.

anyway, we hope to see you guys next week!

This is a video from Sports@SG, a singaporean tv show about sports (NO DUH) that featured the Singapore Ultimate Open, in which some Malaysian clubs took part in!

Now, why doesn't Malaysia support Ultimate like them?

Singapore Open 2009 Finals

Mo'chi is a Taipei-Tokyo combo whereas Pilipinas is from the Philippines.
At the score 6-10 Pilipinas, soft cap was call.
That means whichever team score reaches 12 wins the final.
So who won the final? Mo'chi or Pilipinas?

1)What ultimate nickname would you like to be call?

McRash - cause i'm still not patient enough when I have the disc in hand.

2)What is your most memorable moment in ultimate?

My most memorable moment would be when i pulled off abehind-the-back pass bout two weeks ago during a game.

3)Where do you want to improve next?

I plan to improve on faking and making faster short passes.

4)What is your favourite throw?

my favourite throw would be the hammer for two reasons. The name isawesome and its perhaps the throw with the biggest "awe" effect.

I started playing bout 1 and a half months ago if I'm not wrong.

6)What attracted you into ultimate?

I was actually on my way to futsal one day and just decided to giveit a try... before getting hooked.
